Project on Contour Stresses and Plots

This project deals with the analysis of a mechanics problem that involves the application of a line load on an infinite semi-plane. The stress tensor was first determined analytically and the contour plots where made using a numerical integration simulation in Matlab. The two figures are the simulation results for the case where the body is in plane strain and the line load is 2m long. Both the contour and the mesh plot illustrate the equivalent stress each point of the plane experiences for the given loading case. 

The two red X's on the contour plot illustrate where the peak stress appears on the plane.
